Jovana Popovic and Mathieu Grujicic named BWB Europe MVPs
MALAGA (Spain) - Jovana Popovic of Serbia and Germany's Mathieu Grujicic had a Basketball Without Borders Europe camp to remember as they received the awards for Kim Bohuny Camp Most Valuable Players.
The two talents stood out most of the 60 campers from 25 countries in the four days of on and off-court activities in the 21st BWB Europe camp in Malaga. This was third time the NBA and FIBA's global basketball development and community outreach program was held in Spain.

The campers received basketball and life lessons from current and former NBA and WNBA players and coaches, including Utah Jazz guard Collin Sexton, San Antonio Spurs guard Devonte Graham, three-time WNBA champion and NBA Europe Ambassador Amaya Valdemoro, and former WNBA player and Hozono Global Jairis coach Anna Montañana.

Sexton talked about his training process, his experience transitioning from one team to another and how players need to have in mind that they have a small window of opportunity and that they should leverage it. Graham stressed how having the right mentality on and off the court makes you stand out from other players.

Valdemoro talked about dealing with the pressure to be the best and with frustration. Montañana highlighted how difficult it is to stay active playing in the league and have a long career.

NBA assistant coaches Kenny Atkinson (Golden State Warriors), Dutch Gaitley (Sacramento Kings), Popeye Jones (Denver Nuggets) and Joshua Longstaff (Charlotte Hornets) served as BWB Europe 2024 coaches.

Lena Bilic of Croatia was crowned as girls 3-Point Champion with Slovenia's Maja Uranker being named Defensive MVP, Portugal's Maria Martinho was honored as Playoffs MVP and Wiktoria Haegenbarth of Poland claiming the Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award.
Codrut-Alexander Dino of Romania took the honors as boys 3-Point Champion while Italy's Diego Garavaglia was the Defensive MVP, Guillermo Del Pino was the Playoffs MVP and Dovydas Buika of Lithuania received the Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award.
